Luke's 3 weeks in Cub Scouts

At school registration, Luke was lured to the Cub Scouts table by the bowl of colorful Starburst candy. After browsing the display while unwrapping and eating Starburst after Starburst, he decided Cub Scouts was for him.
After buying him the Cub Scout gear and sewing on the badges, we found out that a parent had to be with him at each weekly meeting - about 2 hours on a weeknight when two nights during the week are already taken by other things. We found out that Luke really wanted to earn the marshmallow shooter prize which meant that he had to sell 3,000 boxes of popcorn (slight exaggeration) and we found out that John would be doing lots of tent camping with the Cub Scout pack, rain or shine. Needless to say, when Luke became less than thrilled about going to the weekly meetings, we gave him a lecture on how you shouldn't quit things and how you should stick with things once you've signed up for them. And then we gave him an out this time which he took and decided to hang up his orange kerchief and golden slider ring.
